The organized tour includes the Museum,
the Commissioners Courtroom,
the basement area (that housed the holding cells for the
Sheriff's Department in the early 1900s),
and the outside of the building including the fossils in the limestone
and John B. Denton's grave.

The entire tour takes about 45 minutes.
Therefore, we do not schedule tours
after 3:30 on Monday through Friday
or after 2:00 on Saturday.

Since the Commissioners Court meets on Tuesdays in the Courtroom,
tours are not generally scheduled on that day.

You are welcome to visit the Museum at any time,
but if you want a tour, please contact the museum in advance.

Scheduling

Groups are encouraged to schedule ahead of the requested date. The months of October, November and early December, March, April, and May are especially busy, so we encourage you to plan ahead so that we can schedule the requested time. For example, many schools now make their requests in September for much later in the school year.
